Description:
The GLTD is a small 3-axis stabilized Day/Night designating payload specifically configured for small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) applications. The GLTD contains four sensors: dual field of view long wave infrared (LWIR) camera, high definition day camera, "SeeSpot" camera and coded laser. The GLTD provides units with an organic aerial ISR and target acquisition capability that enables Below-the-Clouds coded laser marking/designating as well as SeeSpot confirmation capabilities to carry out find, fix, finish, exploit, and assess (F3EA) tasks.
Operational Impact:
This system will give ground elements the ability to conduct Laser Marking/Handoff or Terminal Guidance Operations (TGO) for precision laser-guided munitions with their organic UAS thereby increasing targeting accuracy, reducing the risk of civilian casualties/fratricide.
Transition:
NAVAIR Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Office (PMA-263).
